Summary

In selecting a bottle of wine, many of us take into account the vintage and varietal. While these are important factors, we should also take care to consider the agricultural practices and processing methods used to create our favorite wines, and understanding organic wine labeling plays a key role in this.

If a Wine Is Labeled as Organic Wine

Grapes have been grown in accordance with the national organic standards established by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP)
Wine has been produced and bottled in a certified organic facility
Wine contains no added sulfites

If Wine Is Labeled as Made with Organic Grapes

Grapes have been grown in accordance with the national organic standards established by the USDA NOP
Wine has been produced and bottled in a certified organic facility
May contain added sulfites up to 100 ppm

A Note About Wines at Good Earth

Over the last two years, we’ve worked diligently to remove wines not grown on Certified Organic or Biodynamic properties and find replacements. We’re pleased to report that out of the hundreds of wines we carry, we have only a handful of offerings left that do not come from organic or Biodynamic vineyards.
